As Israel’s rehabilitation needs increase, Yad Sarah opens a five-story, state-of-the-art branch in Ashdod.
3 July 2025
The new facility, which is close to Assuta Ashdod University Hospital, will act as a center for medical welfare and community support services for southern Israeli communities.
Israel, Ashdod, July 2, 2025 The top non-governmental healthcare and social services organization in Israel, Yad Sarah, just built a brand-new, five-story, state-of-the-art location in Ashdod. With about 100 volunteers, the office will act as a regional service center for the southern Israeli city and its neighboring towns. Tens of thousands of people are anticipated to benefit each year.
The opening of the branch is the most recent phase in Yad Sarah’s national expansion, and it aims to satisfy growing local demand in the South in tandem with Ashdod’s expansion. This follows over 50 years of intense Yad Sarah work in the fifth-largest city in Israel.
The facility, which provides a wider range of compassionate home and health care services, takes the place of the organization’s former main location in the city. These consist of specialized emotional support programs, a full-service rehabilitation facility, and loans for cutting-edge medical equipment.
The new center has a protected basement level that can function in the event of a natural disaster or conflict, and it is designed to always meet the community’s continuing needs. As such, the location can be used as a distribution point for medical equipment lending, including at-home oxygen supply, as well as an emergency medical hub.
The upper level of the branch, which is close to Assuta Ashdod University Hospital, the city’s primary hospital, has roomy hospitality apartments for patient families. These suites are also available for use on Shabbats and holidays. Yad Sarah’s larger hospitality network in Jerusalem, Be’er Sheva, and Ra’anana includes these units.
Yad Sarah CEO Moshe Cohen stated, “The opening of this new branch marks a significant milestone for Yad Sarah and for the people of southern Israel, coming at a time when the need for outpatient, emotional, and short- and long-term rehabilitation is greater than ever.” “We are extremely appreciative of the kind donors who made this possible with contributions totaling ILS 70 million (about $20 million), as well as Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yehiel Lasri, who supported this project from the beginning. We look forward to providing the most cutting-edge and caring treatment possible to the community while upholding the spirit of mutual responsibility.
The new branch provides a variety of cutting-edge services catered to Ashdod and the surrounding area’s citizens’ needs, such as:
Large facilities for leasing and repairing medical equipment
A multifunctional therapeutic garden and an advanced day rehabilitation facility
Display and advice center for assistive medical devices and at-home mobility
